The USA enters the dawn of a new era. The advent of Barack Obama will accent the decline of the American empire further. If all the portent polls are correct, he will ride the winds of desire that sweep up from that nation.
Flat out, I admit that I do not trust this guy one little bit. There are so many reasons for this. First, he smiles way too much. Second, his citizenship qualifications are in dispute. Third, he possessed and worked under at least four different names. Fourth, carefully listening to his “message”, he really hasn't said anything that visionary.
Mark this. I have the strangest hunch that Obama will not finish out his term.

First of all, the Americans always seem to end up with the same choices we end up with in Canada. We can elect a real asshole or we can elect a real asshole. As evidence, I offer the real asshole we just elected to a federal minority government.
If they aren't assholes, either we don't get to vote for them at all --- or they simply can't raise any money from the kleptocracy, who all depend on assholes to keep paying them back, with interest, with our money, while at the same time using what's left over to bribe us into re-electing them.
It's an imperfect system, except for the real assholes and the kleptocracy, of course.
Barack Obama is a Chicago politician. It would be nice if he could stop being a Chicago politician after he gets elected President but unfortunately, politicians are only ever elected for one reason and that's to transfer wealth from the poor and the middle class to the super wealthy. Obama will do the same thing as Bush is currently doing. The only difference will be in the subtlety and the crumbs left over for the electorate.
As for Obama finishing his term, I'll bet the Secret Service is currently freaking out, wailing "Why me? Why me?".
