Economic whorers

Unlike the tax and spend Liverals, it seems okay for the Harperite Cornservatives to run up the debt. Most of that money is for wealthy banks, car makers and conducting a questionable futile war on the other side of the planet.

If economic stimulus were to be the goal, the elimination of the GST and a twelve month suspension of any provincial retail sales taxes in Canada would do the same trick and most effectively. Yet it appears that the government wants to reward failure in the upper echelons of the Capitalist System.

I'm confused! I thought Conservatives and Reformers and bankers were fiscally responsible people - like George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

Now it turns out they don't even believe in capitalism. How can that be?

You're right, of course, about the recipients of all this taxpayer money so far and this new bailout certainly seems to be directed, once again, at the insanely wealthy and insanely profitable banks and their very wealthy executives and shareholders.

I won't even mention the morons making hundreds of millions of dollars, looting and mismanaging the auto industry.

The bankers are the same people who paid us a fraction of a percent in interest each year on the money we loaned them, recorded multi-billion dollar profits every quarter for decades and now they expect their victims to simply give them billions of dollars because they want it?

Yes, as friends and funders of our honest, noble political representatives, I guess they do.

Give? Well, let's put it this way, I wouldn't bet even my fraction of a percent of bank interest payments on getting back even one penny of the taxpayer's money.

Would you?
