Sands flowing through the glass hole marked time. No isotope ticked the periods of a human existence. Humans invented time and the machines to mark it. The time masters lacked trust in the sun.
In the sun lies the substrate of all vitality. So why so many demands that you wake up before the sun comes up?

Feeling a little discombobulated by the change back to standard time, Gord?
Humans should not be messing around with time, in my not so humble opinion.
In the pecking order of the universe, time messes with humans, rather than the other way around.
